THE REAL VALUE BEHIND THE PELOTON SUBSCRIPTION EXPLAINED!

WHY IS THE PELOTON MONTHLY FEE SO HIGH?

Whether you feel the Peloton monthly Subscription cost is high or not, depends on your personal situation and the specific membership that you select. You can choose to purchase either the Peloton App, Peloton App+ or Peloton Strength+, which gives you access to certain types of workout content without the need for actually having a Peloton Specific piece of workout equipment.

These different Peloton App options all provide varying access levels to the Peloton Workout Content library and comes with multiple price points as well, anywhere from $9.99 to $28.99, which is reasonable. The great thing about these three Peloton App options is that it is not tied to actually having a piece of Peloton hardware, so if you are someone who travels a lot and wants workout content on demand in whatever destination you may be in, regardless of the type of workout machines they have, these three options are the way to go.

PELOTON ALL ACCESS MEMBERSHIP AND PELOTON RENTAL MEMBERSHIP

When you ask the question why is the Peloton monthly fee so high or why do people pay for Peloton, you’re likely referencing the higher tier membership options. The Peloton All Access Membership Cost $49.99 a month and that’s after shelling out $1695+ to purchase the bike. If you’re thinking about buying the bike and spending that type of money, take the time to learn a little more about the bike by reading this blog post, Peloton Bike: Full Length Review & Hidden Usability Advantages.

After you get the bike, For $49.99 a month you will get access to the entire Peloton Content library, have the ability to track your performance in your ride, tread, row or strength workouts, generate custom workouts in line with your personal workout goals, have the ability to stream your favorite T.V. Shows, movies and live sporting events, plus, you can create profiles for everyone in your house, so all performance related tracking is centered around one specific family member.

The most expensive membership option that Peloton has to offer is the Peloton Rental Membership and that cost $124.99 a month, this includes everything that the All Access membership includes, but since you don’t pay for the bike, the higher cost is to cover the access/usage to the Peloton Bike. If you are going with this option, the question you want to ask yourself is this, Is the Peloton Bike Worth It After the Initial Excitement Fades? You don’t want to spend that type of money and realize you are just paying for a clothing rack every month.

There is no perfect scenario in life and the same goes when you are deciding which Peloton Monthly Subscription to get, either you just want the content and if that’s the case, you  can get one of the Peloton App Memberships that don’t require the bike and keep your costs under $29 a month.

In the event that you want the bike, you either pay for the bike up front and have a lower monthly membership cost of $49.99 or you don’t own the bike and pay $124.99 for rental access to the bike and the entire library of Peloton Content, it’s that simple.

CAN I USE MY PELOTON WITHOUT THE MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION? OR WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL MY PELOTON MEMBERSHIP?

You don’t have to purchase a monthly subscription when you buy your Peloton bike or if you have a Peloton Bike already and are paying for a membership, you can cancel it if you’re tired of paying the monthly fee. That may be the route you decide on taking and it can totally be done. Granted, you will be limiting yourself to just the following

  1. 2 Pre Recorded Classes
  2. The Just Ride Feature
  3. The Just Run Feature

The Just Ride/Just Run Feature has 4 workout options:

  1. No Goal
  2. Time
  3. Distance
  4. Cadence

It’s pretty surprising that Peloton would offer a “No Goal” option in the “Just Ride” feature, but hey it’s there, I wouldn’t recommend it, because what gets measured, gets improved and if you have no goals and aren’t tracking anything, you’re probably not going to see the weight loss that you desire.

The time, distance and cadence options in the “Just Ride” feature do exactly what the name implies, it either tracks the amount of time you have been riding, how far you have ridden the bike and what is your cadence over the course of time you have been riding.

If you’re disciplined, you can eventually hit your weight loss goals using the just ride feature, but you will simply be looking at a monitor with a clock that is tracking your distance and cadence. Not the most enticing thing to bring you back to the stationary bike day after day.

WHY DO PEOPLE PAY FOR PELOTON?

People pay for Peloton to get in shape, have fun and engage in community, sure you can use the Peloton Bike without paying for the monthly subscription, but as you can see, the “Just Ride” feature, just isn’t enough to keep riders engaged and coming back to their workouts consistently. Getting the Peloton without the content that allows you to engage and interact with the community, doesn’t make sense. When you purchase the bike and pay for a Peloton Monthly Subscription instead of just getting the bike alone, there are four important things that you get:

  1. Access To The Content Library That Spans Various Workout Disciplines
  2. Advanced Metric Tracking During And After Your Workout
  3. Leaderboard Rank Tracking During Workouts
  4. All Of The Live On Demand Classes

The Peloton Bike as a standalone without the subscription is an awesome piece of equipment, but the content that the Peloton Apps & All Access/Rental Membership provide, take the experience to the next level and that’s why the Peloton Monthly Fee Is So High.
